The Student Support Services Program at the Center for Human Enrichment is a federally sponsored TRIO Program. The SSS/CHE program serves first-generation and low-income college students throughout their college experience. This program provides supplemental advising, financial literacy, post-graduation planning, and course instruction to program participants. Soar provides the following services to undergraduate students:

  • advising for Exploring the Liberal Arts;
  • assistance in selecting an academic major;
  • support for students experiencing academic difficulties; and

A clear path for degree completion is of the utmost importance! All students are required to declare a major by the time they have completed thirty (30) credit hours toward graduation, including transfer credit. (See 30-Credit Policy for Exploring the Liberal Arts Students)

Tutorial Services

Tutorial Services housed under Student Academic Success Tutorial Services (TS) provides Peer-led Tutoring services, Supplemental Instruction and academic skills sessions to UNC students enrolled in undergraduate-level courses. Tutorial Services is a centralized program with additional satellite and night tutoring options. Certified through the College Reading and Learning Association, Tutorial Services serves students and the larger campus community by promoting student academic achievement, retention, and persistence through degree completion.
