Drone Operations and Spatial Analytics Certificate

Program Overview

The certificate in Drone Operations and Spatial Analytics will provide a credential to students and/or individuals who have demonstrated competency in the planning and operation of small un-crewed aerial systems (sUAS) and analyzing the spatial data collected by sUAS. The certificate will provide the knowledge and skills necessary to apply this technology to a field of study or field of work. This certificate will also provide the knowledge necessary to attain the FAA Part 107 small Unmanned Aircraft Systems license. UAS is a technology with many applications, some of which include remote sensing, geographic information systems (GIS), precision agriculture, construction, resource management, engineering, cinematography, and emergency services.

Certificate Requirements — 12 Credits

Required Courses — 9 Credits

Take all of the following courses:

GEOG 185Introduction to Drones

GEOG 210Introduction to GIS and GPS

or

GEOG 285Earth from Above

GEOG 449Remote Sensing of the Environment

Students can take GEOG 210 or GEOG 285.

Electives — 3 Credits
