Program Description:
The Human Services program provides a comprehensive understanding of the techniques and theories in the helping professions. You will master the skills needed to solve real-world problems using a variety of human services methods. The undergraduate degree in Human Services provides students with the skills to be able to work in a variety of human services settings. Students take a core curriculum that provides a liberal arts education and the tools needed to be a successful professional. Students also select from among multidisciplinary courses across a variety of human services content areas. A hallmark of this program is the fieldwork experiences integrated into course requirements.
The Human Services degree requires completion of an internship. Since the Human Services field requires direct contact with vulnerable individuals, agencies conduct background checks on new employees, including interns. Any student who has a criminal conviction may be unable to register for and complete this required internship. For additional information about vulnerable populations, please review "The Consequences of Conviction" at: http://www.coloradodefenders.us/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/consequences-of-conviction.pdf
