Program Overview
College of Education and Behavioral Sciences
The Special Education Administration endorsement program is designed to prepare students to become special education administrators. The endorsement is a post-master's licensure and all students must have completed a master's degree at an accredited institution. Students are admitted to the program if they meet the admission requirements of the Graduate School, are teacher or special service provider licensed and have completed three years of successful teaching experience or the equivalent. In addition to the admission requirements, a student must hold or be eligible for Colorado licensure as Special Education Generalist Teacher or the equivalent.
The course of study is a highly individualized program based on the background of the student and is designed to provide broad knowledge base for all areas of special education. Depending upon the licensure of the student, a program is designed to provide an in-depth knowledge of the field of special education, emphasizing the wide variety of children with special education needs with regard to delivery systems, evaluation, programming, identification, finance, law and due process.
