Program Overview
College of Education and Behavioral Sciences
A Doctoral Minor in Educational Psychology is available to students in any UNC doctoral program with the approval of their doctoral program advisor. In addition, a written notification needs to be sent to the Educational Psychology Ph.D. program coordinator and the Graduate School by the student's doctoral program advisor.
Features and Conditions
- Completion of the minor will be noted in the student’s transcript as Minor in Educational Psychology.
- Courses from outside the Educational Psychology program may not count toward the minor.
- This minor is not available to students in the Educational Psychology degree program.
- Some or all of the PSY courses used for the minor may be part of a student’s program of required or elective classes.
No application to the Educational Psychology minor program is required. In consultation with their doctoral program advisors, students may include sufficient PSY courses in their programs of study to meet the requirements for the minor.
Doctoral Minor Requirements — 15-16 credits

A minimum of 15 credits completed during the student’s UNC doctoral program with grades of “B-” or better from the following courses:

NOTE: PSY 710 (1 credit hour) is encouraged for students in education-related fields who are considering careers in academia. Please note that this course would add one additional credit hour to your minor program (i.e., 16 total hours).
