LIB 202 Power and Control in an Information Society

In a digital knowledge economy driven by artificial intelligence, misinformation is widespread. The ability to critically understand and evaluate information is essential for academic, professional, and civic success. Students will explore the historical foundations of recorded knowledge; analyze how information is produced and used for social, political, economic, and cultural purposes; and assess emerging trends in information consumption. As a foundational pathway and lifelong learning tool, this course equips students with critical thinking skills to evaluate information sources, recognize bias, and navigate ethical issues to make informed decisions.
