Minor Requirements — 22 Credits
This minor is designed to provide students with a broad-based interdisciplinary understanding of Asian culture through a coordinated program of studying language, history, philosophy, art, geography, or political science. The program is administered by a faculty coordinator in the School of Modern Languages & Cultural Studies. All Asian Studies Minors are required to see an advisor to work out a program of study that will meet their specific needs and interests. A minimum of 6 credits in the minor must be at the 300 or 400 level.
Degree Requirements
Choose either Chinese or Japanese:
Take ten credits:
Students who demonstrate first-year-language competency in either Chinese or Japanese may bypass the 102 course and take 15 credits of electives rather than 12.
Choose at least two different prefixes and at least two courses at 300 level or above:

The following courses have prerequisites not included in the minor.
The following variable topic courses must be relevant to Asian Studies and approved by the student’s minor advisor
NOTES: Independent Study projects and special courses must be approved by the minor advisor. These projects may be taken in any of the following departments: Anthropology, Art, Business, Economics, English, Foreign Languages, Geography, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Sociology, Mind/Honors.
Students must maintain a grade point average of 2.0 or higher in those courses that count toward the minor.
