Student Cultural Services
Cultural Services, composed of Asian Pacific American Student Services, César Chávez Cultural Center, Marcus Garvey Cultural Center, and Native American Student Services, provides quality educational initiatives delivered in a personal and caring manner to promote the inclusion, academic success, and graduation of all undergraduate, transfer, and graduate students of color. The Cultural Services staff works in tandem with the University of Northern Colorado to advocate for the retention and promotion of people and communities of color.
Asian/Pacific American Student Services (APASS) seeks to foster the academic, social, and cultural identity development of the Asian-Pacific Islander community and to enrich and integrate culture into the University of Northern Colorado. These services include academic coaching and leadership development for UNC’s Asian-Pacific Islander student population, as well as, cultural and educational programs for the broader UNC community. César Chávez Cultural Center (CCCC) offers a culturally validating “home like” space for Hispanic/Latinx students where their ethnicity, language and traditions are honored and respected. We provide intentional culturally relevant programs that address academic success, socio-cultural and intersectional aspects of identity, and opportunities for community engagement and career readiness. Marcus Garvey Cultural Center (MGCC) provides academic, cultural and social support to students whose identities intersect the African diaspora by providing one-on-one support, as well as a range of resources offered through programs, cultural events, and strategic initiatives throughout the year. Native American Student Services (NASS) aims to promote academic and leadership excellence of Native American students at the University of Northern Colorado. NASS seeks to enrich the UNC community through academic, social, and cultural programs that reflect the tradition, heritage, and history of Native America. To achieve these goals, we uphold the responsibility of leadership to infuse and incorporate Native ways of knowing and living within academia, through educational initiatives designed for all UNC students, faculty, and staff.
