Student Support Services
Every student has specific and changing needs for emotional, physical, and social support or assistance that must be met to fulfill personal and academic goals. UNC provides a comprehensive range of support services.
The Assault Survivors Advocacy Program (ASAP)
Provides sexual assault prevention education as well as comprehensive advocacy services to student survivors of sexual assault. This includes emotional support, information, referral, and advocacy through the medical, legal, judicial and administrative systems.
Bear Pantry @ UNC
UNC's Bear Pantry is a collaborative initiative on campus to assist students in our community who are faced with food insecurity. Bear Pantry supplements the food supply for any UNC students experiencing hunger and struggling to buy food. Bear Pantry hopes to minimize food insecurity while students work toward completing their education.

The UNC Counseling Center
Provides psychological and psychiatric services to UNC students. In addition to individual, couples and group counseling, the Center provides consultation to faculty, staff and parents who are concerned about students. The UNC Counseling Center also presents campus-wide educational programs and workshops such as test anxiety reduction, coping with change, time management and a wide variety of other mental health topics focused on the prevention of distress and difficulties and the development of positive life coping skills. The UNC Counseling Center is located in Cassidy Hall and can be contacted at (970) 351-2496.
The Student Health Center
Provides primary health care services by physicians and nurse practitioners to UNC students. No appointments are needed for most care. The Center is located on the first floor or Cassidy Hall. The Health Center is able to do insurance billing for most insurance plans.
Center for Women’s and Gender Equity (CWGE) & Styker Institute for Leadership Development
(Scott-Willcoxon Hall) The Center for Women's and Gender Equity (CWGE) honors gender as a central identity and engages critical women's and gender issues while challenging systems of inequity and advocating for change at the University of Northern Colorado.
The CWGE accomplishes this by:
- educating the campus community on topics and issues related to the experiences of women, trans and non-binary students
- providing an inclusive and validating space
- engaging in conversations about the impacts of sexism, cissexism, and misogyny
- empowering student voices to advocate for and create gender equity at UNC
In collaboration with other campus partners that include the university cultural and resource centers, academic departments, and other units within the division of student affairs, the CWGE builds community by supporting students in deepening their understanding of social justice and gender equity to be effective advocates for changes on their campus and in their communities.
Additionally, the CWGE provides free pregnancy tests, contraceptive barriers, lactation support, and menstrual hygiene products for students.

Disability Resource Center (DRC)

The Disability Resource Center (DRC) offers many services to students and faculty. Meetings are a collaborative process with the student and DRC staff to determine appropriate accommodations for each semester. Some services that DRC offers include: Deaf/Hard of hearing services, Adaptive Technology, Note-taking, Captioning and Accommodated Testing. Students can get started with DRC by clicking the 'Getting Started with the DRC' button on the DRC homepage. Gender and Sexuality Resource Center (GSRC) supports the access and involvement of students who identify as Queer and/or Trans* through quality education, advocacy, and programming in order to foster an inclusive and affirming community at University of Northern Colorado.
Veterans Services proudly serves our military affiliated community by assisting in the transition process and providing a stand-alone space with a strong inclusive community. We provide appropriate and practical resources for our students as well as a hub for the Department of Veterans Affairs personnel, SALUTE National Honor Society, the PAVE peer support program, Student Veterans of America chapter, scholarship opportunities, and assistance with GI Bill® education benefits.
