The program consists of four parts:

  1. Liberal Arts Curriculum (LAC) Credits

  4. University-Wide Credits

Program Description:

Ready to explore how the human body moves, adapts, and thrives? The Kinesiology program invites you to explore the science of human movement through hands-on coursework and applied learning. You will develop skills in exercise testing, movement analysis, performance enhancement, and program leadership while working alongside faculty committed to helping you make a meaningful impact on health and well-being. Graduates are prepared for roles in cardiac rehabilitation, gerontological fitness, exercise program management, athletic conditioning, biomechanics, ergonomics, and sport and exercise leadership. The program is recognized by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) for meeting professional education standards.

Program Requirements:

  • Prior to registering for KIN 492, students must complete all KIN prefix courses with a GPA of 2.7 or better, have current CPR certification, and have consent of the Internship Director. In addition, the KIN Internship Request Form must be submitted two weeks before the start of Final Exam week of the PRIOR SEMESTER. This request requires students to secure an internship experience and provide details of the internship site and supervisor.

Degree Requirements — 120 Credits

1. Liberal Arts Curriculum — 31 credits

To complete the degree in 120 credits as outlined, the program recommends the below LAC courses that also count toward the 84-85 required major credits.

Any additional coursework completed outside of the recommended list below may extend the length of the program of study.

  • Taking the recommended LAC courses (see below) that are required for the major and applying them to the LAC will result in 32 University-Wide Credits needed to complete the degree (120 credits)

  • This program is a National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) education recognition program. Students wishing to participate in the NSCA recognition program should consult their advisor.

  • Apply for graduation once you are registered for your final semester. Summer students must participate in the spring commencement ceremony. Summer students can apply after November 1st and must be registered for spring coursework.
