GIS and Cartography Certificate

Program Overview

College of Humanities and Social Sciences

This certificate prepares students for careers that use Geographic Information Systems (GIS).  GIS is a fast growing career sector and uses geospatial technology to generate maps, store map-related information, and analyze geographic data. Geographers, planners, natural resource managers, land developers, real estate agents, market analysts, utility companies, and municipal officials all use GIS. The GIS and Cartography certificate complements majors in all of the social sciences, humanities, business, and many of the natural sciences and provides degree and non-degree seeking students with a marketable skillset.
