APCE 790 Doctoral Internship in Counseling
Supervised individual counseling experiences in a laboratory setting. Supervision will be directed toward improvement of skills and case management. This course is designed to enhance student’s development as practitioner. The purpose is to provide intensive supervision and instruction to students at the doctoral degree level in counselor education and supervision. In addition, the purpose is to provide the student an opportunity to develop counseling skills, applied theory, diagnostic competencies, treatment plans, formal case presentation and philosophy in depth with clients in an individual counseling situation. The majority of class time will be spent learning and applying effective assessment and treatment of individual clients.
Students are expected to be prepared to comply with their administrative responsibilities in client care, develop well-written treatment plans, read and discuss assigned reading material and write and present a formal case from their current practicum. S/U graded.
