Audiology Assistant Certificate

Program Overview

College of Natural and Health Sciences

The Audiology Assistant Certificate is designed to provide comprehensive training for individuals seeking foundational and applied knowledge in audiology to allow for work as an Audiology Assistant. An audiology assistant is a trained professional who supports audiologists in clinical, educational, and community-based settings by performing delegated tasks, assisting with diagnostic and treatment procedures, and facilitating patient care under supervision. This program integrates coursework in basic and advanced audiology, amplification and aural rehabilitation, and hands-on clinical experience through an audiology assistant internship in a clinical setting. Participants will develop practical clinical skills as an audiology assistant under direct supervision during their internship, including performing hearing screenings, assisting with diagnostic testing, and supporting delivery of treatment and rehabilitation. The curriculum also emphasizes professional standards, including ethics, universal safety precautions, and patient confidentiality (HIPPA), preparing graduates to provide safe, effective, and ethical support in diverse hearing healthcare environments. The Audiology Assistant Certificate provides foundational coursework that includes knowledge and skills that can be used toward application for professional certification as an audiology assistant through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) as well as practical clinical experience.
