College of Osteopathic Medicine Catalog 2026-2027

Student Rights and Responsibilities

Students enrolled in the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) program at the University of Northern Colorado College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNC COM) are expected to uphold the highest standards of academic integrity, ethical conduct and professionalism. As members of the UNC community, medical students are subject to the UNC Student Rights and Responsibilities and the Student Code of Conduct in addition to the professional obligations required of future physicians.

UNC COM students must also adhere to professional standards specific to the practice of osteopathic medicine, including expectations related to clinical conduct, academic performance and ethical behavior. These responsibilities are outlined in detail in the UNC COM Student Handbook.

Students are further expected to conduct themselves in accordance with the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) Code of Ethics, which defines the ethical and professional duties of osteopathic physicians to patients, colleagues, society and the profession. These standards emphasize confidentiality, competency, honesty, respect and service and serve as a foundation for the professional formation of UNC COM students.

Full information on student rights, responsibilities and professional expectations, including the complete AOA Code of Ethics, is available in the UNC COM Student Handbook.
