The program consists of three parts:

  1. Liberal Arts Curriculum (LAC) Credits
  2. Required Major Credits
  3. University-Wide Credits

Program Description:

The BA English - Writing, Editing, and Publishing concentration offers students the opportunity to specialize in different types of professional writing as well as print and digital editing. It exposes them to rhetorical, critical, and cultural theory and a range of technological tools used in various sectors of the publishing industry.

Only two courses included in the Liberal Arts Curriculum may count for elective credit.

In accordance with University Policies, coursework earned more than 10 years prior to the date of matriculation to UNC may not be used to satisfy any major or minor requirements. Any exception to this policy is at the discretion of the academic program.

To complete the LAC in the minimum number of credits, be sure to choose at least one course with an IS designation and one course with an MS designation.

It is strongly recommended that students completing the English B.A. - Writing, Editing, and Publishing concentration take ENG 200 Introduction to Creative Writing to fulfill the Arts & Humanities requirement.

BAMK 478 Social Media Marketing requires BAMK 360 Marketing as a prerequisite course. Students wishing to take BAMK 478 are advised to first take BAMK 360 as a university elective.

ENG 492: Students who wish to use the Writing Internship as one of their courses must complete a total of three credits.
