The program consists of three parts:
- Liberal Arts Curriculum (LAC) Credits
- Required Major Credits
- University-Wide Credits
Program Description:
The Healthcare Administration concentration prepares graduates for managing health-related organizations. Students develop skills in managing people and projects, leading teams and departments, and developing organizational leadership and managerial acumen that are needed to deliver high quality care. Upon competition of the Healthcare Administration concentration, graduates are prepared for careers in the health industry and administrative positions in hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, mental health organizations, government agencies, and insurance organizations.

No separate admission requirement.
Minor Required:
No minor required.
Program Requirements:
In accordance with University Policies, coursework earned more than 10 years prior to the date of matriculation to UNC may not be used to satisfy any major or minor requirements. Any exception to this policy is at the discretion of the academic program.
Degree Requirements — 120 Credits
1. Liberal Arts Curriculum — 31 credits
To complete the degree in 120 credits as outlined, the program recommends the below LAC courses that also count toward the 83 required major credits.
Any additional coursework completed outside of the recommended list below may extend the length of the program of study.
Written Communication — 6 credits
ENG 123 (3) is recommended to fulfill the Intermediate Writing Course requirement and will fulfill both LAC and major requirements.

Mathematics — 3 credits
STAT 150 (3) is recommended to fulfill the Mathematics requirement and will fulfill both LAC and major requirements.

Arts & Humanities, History, Social & Behavioral Sciences, U.S. Multicultural Studies [MS], and International Studies [IS] — 15 credits
To complete the LAC in the minimum number of credits, be sure to choose at least one course with an IS designation and one course with an MS designation.
PHIL 250 (3) is recommended to fulfill the Arts and Humanities: Ways of Thinking requirement and will fulfill both LAC and major requirements.
ECON 205 (3) and PSY 230 (3) are recommended to fulfill the Social and Behavioral Sciences requirement and will fulfill both LAC and major requirements.

Natural & Physical Sciences — 7 credits
BIO 110 (4) is recommended to fulfill the Natural & Physical Sciences LAB requirement and will fulfill both LAC and major requirements.
For students pursuing admission into the Nursing B.S.N., CHEM 281 (3), CHEM 281L (1), and FND 250 (3) are recommended to fulfill the Natural & Physical Sciences requirements and will fulfill both LAC and Nursing prerequisites.

2. Required Major — 83 credits
3. University Wide Credits — 6-28 credits*
Complete additional credits to achieve the minimum credits needed for any degree at UNC; for this program, that will typically be 6-28 credits.
*Note: Students who apply the recommended courses to both the liberal arts curriculum and the major requirements will have an increased number of university wide electives to apply to this degree. See your advisor for details.
Program Notes
Students interested in admission to the Nursing B.S.N. should take BIO 251, CHEM 281, CHEM 281L, and FND 250 for LAC or elective credit to complete Nursing prerequisites. Students will also complete the following prerequisites as part of the Health Sciences B.S.: BIO 110, BIO 245, BIO 246, ENG 123, NURS 326, PSY 230, and STAT 150.
