Course Load
The College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM) follows a prescribed curriculum. Barring special circumstances, all students take the same courses in sequence during the first two years (preclinical phase). During years three and four (clinical phase), students take the same core clinical rotations, but the sequence varies. Students have some flexibility with selective and elective clinical courses.
Enrollment Status
Students in the College of Osteopathic Medicine are expected to enroll full time in each semester of the program. Full-time status may vary by semester but requires a minimum of 12 credit hours.
- Full Time: minimum 12 credit hours. Students are expected to enroll Full-time each semester that they are part of the College of Medicine. Full time varies by the semester, but is a minimum of 12 credit hours.
- Half Time: 6 credit hours
Dropping below full-time or taking credit hours above full-time requires special permission from the Student Progress Committee. Reducing credit hours may require a leave of absence to remain in good academic standing. Students should seek guidance from the Office of Student Affairs on their options and the process of seeking modification of their course load.
