The graduate program in the School of Art & Design leads to the Master of Arts degree. It offers an in-depth and individualized course of study. The program provides opportunities to develop advanced expertise in studio arts. The M.A. degree can also be used in preparation for further, more advanced, graduate studies. It is the goal of the School of Art & Design to encourage, foster, and provide academic rigor and artistic excellence.
The final requirement for the M.A. is an arts-based research project/exhibition and panel defense.
Prerequisites. Students who have completed an undergraduate degree in art or art education or the equivalent. An applicant who does not have an undergraduate major in art or art education, or its equivalent, may be required to complete specified coursework or demonstrate competency in specific areas of study before beginning the program.
