For seniors, post-B.S. or M.S. in nursing students. Summers only. Focuses on transcultural nursing and cultural assessment for the purpose of providing culturally congruent and competent nursing care. Describes culture care beliefs, values and practices of specific cultures.
Prerequisites: NURS 510. Summers only. The use of ethnonursing, ethnography and other qualitative research methods to generate and analyze cultural differences and similarities in care, health beliefs, values and practice of various cultures.
Pre or Co-requisite: NURS 511. Summers only. The application of the ethnonursing research methodology to analyze differences and similarities within a cultural experience as determined by the student and faculty. S/U graded.
Update skills and knowledge of professionals in the discipline. Goals and objectives will be specifically directed at individual professional enhancement rather than the acquisition of general knowledge or methodologies. S/U or letter grades. Repeatable, under different subtitles.
Prerequisite: BSN degree plus 1 or more years clinical experience, or consent of instructor. Development of theoretical/practical knowledge to support successful transition from nursing practice role to that of clinical instructor. Includes theory and practical application.
