INTR 455 Interpreting Skills and Theory V

Building upon skills from previous intermediate ASL-English Interpreting courses, this advanced lecture/lab course delves into high-level ASL-English interpreting practices, including formal register interpreting, contextually accurate interpretation of multiple-meaning signs, and interpreting content with specialized vocabulary. Students will refine both ASL-to-English and English-to-ASL simultaneous interpreting skills, applying advanced techniques in meaning transfer and cultural mediation. The course will further explore advanced stakes interpreting scenarios, ethical decision-making, and team interpreting in specialized settings. Students will engage in self and peer assessments and diagnostic assessments, deepening their self-awareness and reflective practice through complex, real-world scenarios.
